DR. PHIL SMITH
PhD, Chartered Psychologist, Professional Certified Coach (ICF).

Phil is a senior figure in the field of leadership development and organisational performance.
He is the Executive Director of RBG ASIA Limited. He lives in Hong Kong and works with corporate and institutional clients in North and South Asia (currently active in Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam), Europe and North America.
He has been a member of the GIG economy for most of his life, leading and building consulting firms. He works with individuals and teams to help them find answers to the question, “What lies beyond the best you think you have to offer?” He partners closely with client organisations to understand their journey and aspirations, and how to translate these into practical activity – leadership capability frameworks, people strategy, due diligence for acquisition and disposal, the assessment and development of leaders and their teams. He has coached hundreds of senior executives in Asia-Pacific.
Current and recent clients include BP, Manulife, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Generali, GSK, HSBC and others. He measures his success in the hard currency of his client’s progress and impact. In one organization, of the 80 leaders he has coached, 90% of them have achieved measurable progress, in terms of performance ratings, promotion, increased scope or complexity of role, or entry to accelerated development programs.
He has held appointments in Psychology and Management at the London School of Economics, the University of British Columbia, the University of Bristol, Cranfield School of Management and Hong Kong University. Phil is a Chartered Psychologist with a BA from McGill and a PhD from the University of Bristol. He is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coach Federation (ICF).

DR. MATTEO GAETA

Dr. Matteo Gaeta is a senior leader with 25 years of work experience, at strategic and operational level, across BRIC and mature markets. He spent 20 years in Asia with national and regional top management responsibilities with market leaders in the luxury and premium eyewear and homeware markets. He was member of the executive board in Fiskars Group and member of the Safilo Group executive committee as well as holding board positions in several organizations across Asia.
Dr. Gaeta has extensive expertise in organization set up, business turnaround and business development in retail, wholesale and digital channels with a key focus on customer experience.
He developed the DARE methodology with Dr. Phil Smith, to confront leadership and individual challenges of the 4th Industrial revolution, which require embracing change, accepting uncertainty and fast adaptation to new norms. DARE helps employees’ transition from being ‘employees’ coping with complexities, to ‘job crafters’ who actively shape and take charge of their contribution to the organization.
DARE also supports organisations to create a business environment that favors meaningful conversations with employees, to shape attractive work propositions and bring out the best in people.

Dr. Gaeta’s area of expertise and research is job crafting and how employees cognitively shape their meaning of work to maximize their wellbeing or minimize their stress and efforts within and organization. He received his doctoral degree in business and administration from City University of Hong Kong and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
